Fluorescence Uranium Determination. I. Design of Equipment and Testing; DETERMINACION DE URANIO POR FLUORESCENCIA. I. PROYECTO DE EQUIPO Y COMPROBACION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4109271
Equipment for analysis by fluorescence was developed in order to make a determination of uranium at such a low concentration that previously could not be determined by the most sensitive analytical methods. This new fluorimeter was adapted to measure the fluorescence emitted by the sodium fluoride - sodium carbonate - potassium carbonate excited by ultraviolet light of 3,650 A. The intensity of the light emitted was measured with a RCA 5819 photomultiplier and associated electronic equipment. The fluorimeter gives a linear response for uranium quantities between 0 and 15 with a sensitivity of 0.001 of uranium. This procedure was used successfully as a routine method to determine uranium in very poor samples. (auth)
