N BANDS IN ALKALI HALIDE CRYSTALS

Journal Article · · J. Phys. Soc. Japan

The N bands of some alkali halide crystals were investigated. The samples of NaCl, KBr. Kl, and LiF were colored by irradiation with x rays at room temperature. Then they were bleached with their respective F light at room temperature to develop the N/sub 1/ and N/sub 2/ bands. For NaCl the bands were further investigated. Results indicated that the N/sub i/ and N/sub 2/ bands are due to different centers. (M.C.G.)
