Propagation of shock waves in a moving medium with variable density and temperature is analyzed. It is assumed that the shock wave is weak and the length of the wave is smaller than the characteristic dimensions in the problem. It is shown that the nonlinear effects can be determined using the L. D. Landau analysis (Priklad. Mat. i Mekhan. 9, No. 4, 1945). Asymptotic formulas are developed for the pressures at the wave front and their variations in the density of the medium. (R.V.J.)
