THE EFFECT OF HIBERNATION ON THE VARIATION OF THE BETA-GLYCURONIDASIC ACTIVITY OF THE BLOOD AND THE TISSUES FOLLOWING IRRADIATION (in Italian)

In blood of 15 guinea pigs and on homogenized liver, spleen, adrenals, kidney, testicle, and ovary of 30 guinei pigs, the variations of helial phagocyt -glycuronidasic activity due to whole-body x irradiation which was made during or after a period of hibernation were studied. It was concluded that artificial hibernation modifies the enzymatic activity of irradiated animals from a qualitative and quantitative point of view. The characteristics of these phenomena are then discussed. (auth)
