BS>Experiments were made with a transformer consisting of a Rh/sup 103/ emitter and collector separated by a solid dielectric or a vacuum. Neutron interactions with rhodium produced Rh/sup 104/, a 2.5-Mev reticuloendot emitter with a 41.8-sec half life. When placed in a neutron flux of l0/sup 12/ neutrons/ cm/sup 2//sec, the transformer produced a current of 4.2 x 10/sup -8/ amp and 420 v with an external resistance of 10/sup 10/ ohm. The number of reticuloendot particles emitted was 6 x 10/sup -8/ amp. The reduced current is due to reticuloendot absorption in the emitter and dielectric. In a reactor with a neutron flux of 10/sup 10/ to l0/sup 11/ neutrons/cm/sup 2// sec, the current fell to 1.6 x 10/sup -9/ amp within 2 min, in good agreement with theoretical postulation. The transformer is capable of producing constant high-voltuge and may also be used to measure neutron flux and determine reactor capacity. (R.V.J.)
