This report presents a new derivation of the generalized reciprocity theorem of quantum mechanics. In most branches of physics, reciprocity refers to a symmetry condition on a Green's function, whereas in quantum mechanics the term is used to denote a condition on scattering amplitude or on the S-matrix. The derivation given here relates these two points of view by first deriving a generalized symmetry condition on the quantum mechanical Green's function, and from it obtaining a condition on the scattering amplitude.
