g-SUM RULE AND THE LEVELS OF Eu II

The failure of the theoretical sum to agree with the experimental g sums for levels in Eu II formed by couplings of a 6s, 6p, or 5d electron to the 4f/sup 7/(S/sup 8/) core is shown to be due to an error in the theoretical sum. A correction to the theoretical g sum for breakdown of Russell-Saunders coupling in the core is suggested. (R.E.U.)
