IMAGINARY PART OF THE OPTICAL MODEL POTENTIAL IN NUCLEAR MATTER
The imaginary part of the optical model potential in nuclear matter was calculated for various values of the en ergy, assuming Gammel-Thaler nucleon- nucleon interactions. The calculations were made using the separation method in which the interaction is separated into shortand long-range parts, the former giving zero phase shift. To a good approximation, only the long-range component contributes to the imaginary part of the optical potential. (auth)
