The 80 multiple-meson production events observed in an emulsion stack are analyzed by methods of mathematical statistics. The experimenthl results are compared with the hydrodynamical theory of particle production. Meson production due to central collisions between the nucleons and heavy nuclei is considered in particular detail. (auth) .
