Title: MEASURMENT OF SELF-ABSORPTION ALONG THE AXIS FOR A Co$sup 60$ PREPARATION OF CYLINDRICAL SHAPE (in Russian)

The doses from and absolute activities of 2 to 15-mm cy lindrical Co/sup 60/ sources were measured, and the self-absorption coefficient f was detemnined. A correlation of the obtained curves indicates good agreement between the formula f = (1-e/sup s/sup l// mu l) (where mu is the linear coefficient of gamma attenuation in cobalt, l is length) and the curve for 2 to 4mm lengths. However, for longer sources the experimental and theoretical data do not coincide, possibly due to radiation scattering. (R.V.J.)
