SOME EXACT SOLUTIONS IN LINEARIZED MAGNETOAERIDYNAMICS FOR ARBITRARY MAGNETIC REYNOLDS NUMBERS

Journal Article · · Revs. Modern Phys.
Maxwell's equations and Ohm's law combined with the equations governing the motion of compressible inviscid fluids with scalar electrical conductivity are sufficient to describe many of the phenomena in magnetoaerodynamics. Simplifications have been made by treating small perturbations to some initial state and linearizing the equations about that initial state. A general treatment of the linearized equations is presented and special solutions for the flow past an insulating sinusoidal wall with various magnetic field geometries are given. Arbitrary values of the conductivity and compressibility are included, and some numerical estimates of magnetoaerodynamic effects made. (B.O.G.)
