DECOUPLING CONCEPTS AND PROJECT COWBOY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4094408
A brief resume of the principal results of the Cowboy program is presented. The purpose of the Cowboy program was to use high explosives to test the decoupling theory. The Cowboy experiment verifies the prediction that explosions in elastic cavities wlll yield very small seismic sig nals, compared to fully tamped shots. The surface measurements and the close-in measurements are consistent with one another and with the decoupling theory. (W.L.H.)
