Band structure in $sup 131$ $sup 132$ $sup 133$Ba observed by ($sup 12$C,xn) reactions

Journal Article · · Nucl. Phys., A, v. 252, no. 2, pp. 509-523

High-spin levels in Ba isotopes are observed in the reactions $sup 122$ $sup 124$Sn($sup 12$C,3n$gamma$$)$$sup 131$ $sup 133$Ba and $sup 124$Sn($sup 12$C,4n$gamma$$)$$sup 132$Ba. They are studied by in-beam spectroscopic methods such as prompt and delayed spectra, excitation functions, $gamma$--$gamma$ coincidences and angular distributions. Bands are found on the $sup 11$$/$$sub 2$$sup -$ isomeric state in $sup 133$Ba and on the $sup 9$$/$$sub 2$$sup -$ isomeric state in $sup 131$Ba which are in agreement with the structure of other nuclei with 77 and 75 neutrons and with prolate deformation. A negative-parity band with both even- and odd-spin members from 5$sup -$ to 9$sup -$ is found in $sup 132$Ba. (NL)
