Some decay properties of $sup 183$Ir

Journal Article · · Nucl. Phys., A, v. 252, no. 2, pp. 524-532
OSTI ID:4091681
The isotope $sup 183$Ir was produced at the Yale Heavy Ion Accelerator via the $sup 175$Lu($sup 12$C,4n)$sup 183$Ir reaction and from the decay of $sup 183$Pt, which was formed in the $sup 169$Tm($sup 19$F,5n)$sup 183$Pt reaction. The half-life of $sup 183$Ir was found to be 55 + - 5 min. Singles and coincidence $gamma$-ray measurements were performed using 30-40 cm$sup 3$ Ge(Li) detectors. X-ray measurements were carried out using an intrinsic Ge detector. The following $gamma$-rays were found to belong to the decay of $sup 183$Ir:30.8, 87.7, 96.2, 102.2, 107.7, 136.8, 165.7, 194.5, 228.5, 236.7, 250.6, 254.4, 282.4, 286.1, 296.3, 314.4, 319.1, 342.2, 347.7, 392.4, 411.2, 457.7, 461.9, 498.4, 617.4, 655.1, 670.8, 692.2, 706.1, 724.8, 800.1 and 896.7 keV. A tentative decay scheme for $sup 183$Ir is proposed verifying levels in $sup 183$Os. (NL)
