CONTRIBUTION TO IMPROVEMENT OF FOCALIZATION IN MICROTRON (in Italian)

A remarkable intensity increase of the electron beam accelerated in a microtron was carried out by means of the magnetic field of a magnetic shell suitably directed around the accelerating cavity. The order of magnitude of the focalizing field is about (1 to 0.5)% of the uniform field intensity of the machine. The effect is explained by taking account of the periodicity of the axial and radial forces generated by the additional field on the electron beam. The effect is the first attempt to furnish the microtron with a focalizing device that acts along all the distribution of orbits followed by the electrons. (auth)
