A LIQUID SCINTILLATION COINCIDENCE COUNTER FOR RADIOCARBON

Journal Article · · Appl. Sci. Research, B
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1007/BF02930880· OSTI ID:4089453
Measurements are made of the radiocarbon counting performance of a liquid scintillation coincidence counter used in conjunction with an anticoincidence shield counter. When operated at room temperature, the system has a radiocarbon counting efficiency of 59% at a background of 16 counts/min. The activity of ethanol made from contemporary wood is determined to 13.1 plus or minus 0.6 disintegrations per minute per gram carbon. (auth)
