A method for scandium determination based on the extraction of its iodide complex with diantipyrilmethane into chloroform followed by the complexonometric determination of the element separated was developed. The method permits the determinntion of scandium in materials containing lanthanum and all the other rare eanths, yttrium, aluminum, chromium, nickel, cobalt, beryllium, magnesium, manganese, and small amounts of titanium, calcium, barium, strontium, iron and alkali metals. On slight modification the method can be used for scandium determination in the presence of zirconium and hafnium. (auth)
