Spectrophotometric studies of reactions between neodymium, holminm, and erbium salts with 1,2dihydroxybenzene -- 3,5-disulfonic acid (Tiron) revealed two complex compounds. At pH7 the ratio between the metal and the Tiron in the complex is 1 : 1.5; at pH14 the ratio is 1: 4. Additions of alcohol synthesized two neodymium complexes; the hexasodium salt of the dineodymium complex with tripyrocatecholdisulfonic acid and the monosodium salt of the neodymium complex of the pyrocatecholdisulfonic acid.
