MEASUREMENT OF THE RADIOACTIVITY OF TRITIUM-LABELED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (in Chinese)
Some of the more recent methods found to be suitable for measuring the activity of tritium-labeled compounds are reviewed. Gas-liquid chromatography is widely used to separate and to determine C/sup 14/ and H/sup 3/ labeled organic compounds. The separation of the compounds and determination of their activity may be carried out simultaneously. High precision may be achieved by comparing the course of the radioactivity and thermal conductivity curves. The purity of the labeled organic compounds may be estimated on the basis of superimposed successive peaks of these two sets of curves. ft was found possible to separate the radioactive compounds without making use of a carrier. Activities in the range of 10/sup -18/ to 10/sup -9/ curie can be determined with satisfactory precision. For best results, Geiger-Mueller counters filled with cyclohexane are recommended. The internal distribution of the radioactivity due to H/sup 3/ may be also determined. (TTT)
