THE EFFECT OF SODIUM SUCCINATE ON DEHYDROGENATION ACTIVITY OF THE LIVER TISSUE IN RATS AFTER IRRADIATION

The activity of liver succinodehydrogenase after irradiation was determined using triphenyltetrazolium chloratum (TTC) as hydrogen acceptor. The criterion observed was the intensity of TTC reduction by the liver tissue of rats at various time intervals after irradiation with 600 r, which corresponds to LD/ sub 50/30/ days for rats. The results showed that, beginning with the second hour following irradiation, the activity in the liver homogenate is statistically significantly reduced. Immediately after irradiation the activity of liver homogenate irradiated in vitro with 15000 r is inhibited whereas the dose of 600 r does not change the activity of liver homogenate irradiated in vitro.
