Investigation of some spectral and energy characteristics of the lasing of a number of coumarin derivatives

Fifteen lasing coumarin derivatives with substitutions of a different electronic nature in the 3,4,5,6, and 7 positions of the coumarin ring when excited by the second harmonic of a ruby laser are investigated. Emission from these compounds is obtained in a nonselective resonator in the range from 410 nm to 500 nm when using different solvents and variations in their acidity. It is found that the most efficient compounds are those that contain the electron-donor substitution, the diethylamino group, in position 7. (AIP)
