Some results from experimental data on surface jet discharge of heated water

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4084832

Published laboratory and field data on heated surface jets are compiled from several sources and presented in a unified and easily usable format. Partial analysis of the data is presented to show the general influences of the (a) ambient current, (b) the initial discharge angle (c) the jet densimetric Froude number and (d) the jet aspect ratio on the plume trajectory, plume half- width and centerline temperature. The plots are qualitative in nature, subject to refinement when better data become available. Meanwhile, they can be very helpful in the development of mathematical models for surface jets. (auth)
