DESIGNING FOR MINIMUM ACTIVATION. Paper 6 of FOURTH RADIATION EFFECTS SYMPOSIUM, SEPTEMBER 15-16, 1959, CINCINNATI, OHIO. GENERAL SESSION PAPERS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4084288
A technique was devised which combines calculated alloy dose rates with a structural index (ratio of yield strength to density) to aid in the selection of an optimum material for any given application. Graphs are presented which show the variations in activation of several types of alloys, both shielded and unshielded, at temperatures of 400, 1000, and 1600 deg F. (C.J.G.)
