An experimental study of a transpiration-cooled electric-arc heat- transfer device is summarized. The basic element of the apparatus is a porous graphite anode, fabricated from 48% porous graphite, with a mean pore diameter of 0.0013 in. The arc is struck between a tungsten rod-type cathode and the porous anode. Under operating conditions, a gas flows through the porous anode, thereby serving as an please delete the above abstract-----
