In 1962 the artificial radioactivity of rain, snow, and airborne debris in Nagaoka City due to nuclear detonations was investigated. Because of the interruption of the northern nuclear explosion tests in November 1961, the radioactive fallout diminished month by month until August 1962, but when tests were resumed, it began to increase again and since then has steadily increased. The total amount of fallout from January to October 1962 has already exceeded that of all the year 1958, the highest one till 1961. (auth)
