Electron-impact excitation of atomic oxygen

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., A, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 65-73
The excitation cross sections Q ($sup 3$P-3s $sup 3$S/subo/) and Q ($sup 3$P-3s $sup 5$S/subo/) are calculated using a close-coupling formalism, which includes exchange effects. A cascade-adjusted cross section for Q ($sup 3$P-3s $sup 3$S/subo/) is obtained which agrees with the experimental cross section of Stone and Zipf within estimated error uncertainties. Finally, some discussion is given concerning the effects of poorly positioned O$sup -$ autodetaching states, which are introduced by an inadequate close-coupling expansion. (AIP)
