Title: LOW NOISE CHARGE-SENSITIVE PREAMPLIFIER FOR USE WITH SEMICONDUCTOR NUCLEAR RADIATION DETECTOR (in Polish)

Journal Article · · Nukleonika (Poland)
OSTI ID:4083563

The preamplifier described is based on the design of E. Fairstein (IRE Trans. NS-8, 129 (1961)). The numerous design changes include the optimization of the relative values of time constants such as overall rise-time and clipping times in the interstage R-C networks, the inclusion of selector switches to allow variation of the time constants according to the use of the preamplifier, the use of input amplifier tubes that have good noise characteristics, the optimization of tube voltages, the use of low-temperaturecoefficient resistors and capacitors, and housing in a heavy copper-sheet chassis. The preamplifier sensitivity is given as 1.33 x 10/sup 13/ volt per coulomb or 0.25 volt per mev. The noise level for an input capacitance of 20 to 100 picofarads is about 4 to 8 kev, respectively.
