INSTABILITY OF CONDUCTING FLUID CYLINDER DUE TO AXIAL CURRENT

The stability of an incompressible, inviscid, electrically conducting fluid cylinder in the presence of axial current is considered taking into account the effect of surface tension. The effect of gravity is taken into account approximately. The results are found to be in reasonable agreement with experiment. (auth)
