USE OF ($alpha$,n) REACTIONS IN QUANTITATIVE ASSAYS OF DRESSING PRODUCTS FOR BERYLLIUM, BORON, AND FLUORINE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Atomnaya Energ.
OSTI ID:4083069
Descriptions are given of the rapid method using ( alpha ,n) reactions for quantitative control of beryllium, boron, and fluorine content in dressing products. Po/sup 210/ with an activity of 250 mu c was used as alpha source. The number of neutrons knocked out by alpha particles from enriched products is recorded by neutron counters and the amount of beryllium, boron, and fluorine concentration in the product is determined. The method can be utilized for recording (with an accuracy of 1.5 to 2%) the enrichment products of beryllium, fluorine, and boron ores, and, also, rich ores containing fluorine and boron. The content of the element is determined with a constant amount of other admixtures with high ( alpha ,n) reaction yield. (tr-auth)
