Mathematical foundation workshop V-statistics of measurement

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4082658

The discussion of the statistics of measurement includes the required number of measurements and the precision of the estimate. Basic stereological relations describe global or average value geometric properties of the three- dimensional structure. Actual measurements are distributed about such a global property. The precision of such a global property estimate depends upon the method of taking measurements and the complexity of the structure as well as the number of measurements. If the structure is spatially heterogeneous, precision is highly dependent on the sampling plan used to select the sections for examination. (JFP)
