ON THE BEHAVIOR OF REAL AND VIRTUAL AMPLITUDE PARTS IN ELASTIC p-p SCATTERING AT HIGH ENERGIES (in Russian)

The real and virtual amplitudes in elastic p-p scattering were calculated using an F(t) (where t is the square of transmitted 4-momentum) and 1(t) a constantly decreasing function determined by A. N. Diddens et al. (Phys. Rev. Letters 9, 111, 1962). The results of calculations for s/2m/sup 2/ = 20, where s is the total energy of scattered particles (center-of-inertia) and m/sup 2/ is a constant, are plotted. The magnitude ImF(s,t)/ sigma /sub tot/ decreases from one at t = 0 to 0 at t = -1. The ReF(s,t)/ sigma /sub tot/ has a negative value and reaches a maximum (absolute) approximately at t = -0.2(Bev/c)/sup 2/. (R.V.J.)
