ON THE CONNECTION BETWEEN RENORMALIZATION AND THE RENORMALIZATION GROUP IN QUANTUM ELECTRODYNAMICS

The connection between renormalization with a cut-off procedure and the renormalization group in quantum electrodynamics is discussed. A formalism is used in which mass renormalization is multiplicative in character like charge renormalization and electron field renormalization. The cut-off dependence of the charge and mass renormalization constants is discussed. (auth)
