CHROMATIC ABERRATIONS IN QUADRUPOLE MULTIPLETS

Explicit formulas for the chromatic abberations of a composite lens system are derived. Applications are made to quadrupole doublets and triplets with particular attention to symmetric systems and stigmatic operation. The feasibility of choosing operating conditions leading to minimum aberrations is demonstrated. (auth)
