ORGANIC COMPOUNDS AS MODERATOR-COOLANTS FOR NUCLEAR REACTORS (in Spanish)

Journal Article · · Energia nuclear (Madrid)
OSTI ID:4080969
A review is presented on the utilization of organic compounds as reactor coolants and moderators. The properties necessary for moderators and coolants are first considered; then the criteria used for the selection of the specific organic compound for this utilization are summarized. The properties of polyphenyls as reactor coolants and moderators are discussed. Coolant stability, coolant activation, and heat transfer in the Organic-moderated Reactor Experiment are considered. The chemical control of an organic moderator-coolant is discussed in conclusion. (J.S.R.)
