NEON AND OTHER RARE GASES IN STONE METEORITES (in German)

Journal Article · · Helvetica Physica Acta (Switzerland)
OSTI ID:4080861
The concentration and the isotopic composition of neon was measured in eight stone meteorites. All the Ne/sup 21/ found occurred by cosmic radiation- induced spallation. A comparison of the Ne/sup 21/ concentration was made with the He/sup 3/ and Ar/sup 38/ also produced by spallation. By use of radiochemical target dath, it was concluded that the mean energy of the cosmic radiation on the meteorites was about 1 Bev. The constant He/sup 3//Ne/sup 21/ ratio showed that the Ne/sup 21/ radiation age agrees with the He/sup 3/ radiation age. (J.S.R.)
