NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST STATION FOR ZIRCALOY-CLAD REACTOR FUEL
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4080641
A nondestructive test station was constructed to inspect Zircaloy tubes and Zircaloy-clad reactor fuel pieces for cladding defects. The test station includes a feeder to spiral the fuel pieces past the sensing transducers of a number of eddy current and ultrasonic instruments which measure wall thicknesses and indicate flaws. The station is adaptable to either solid or tubular fuel pieces with diameters between 1 and 31/2 inches and lengths between 2 and 10 feet. Operation can be in air or under water and the complement of test transducers is easily changed to fit particular test situations. (auth)
