THE DYNAMICS OF A TEMPERATURE AND STEAM VOID POWER COEFFICIENT

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4080557
The dynamic behavior of an axial coolant channel in a power reactor containing steam voids was studied. General expressions for the small signal transfer functions associated with the individual components of the power coefficient were obtained for arbitrary axial power densities, temperature coefficients, and steam-void coefficients (weighting functions). The weighting functions were synthesized by a stepping function with six axial nodes, and the frequency response was obtained for the individual components of a typical power coefficient. The importance of the moving boiling boundary is demonstrated by a Nyquist plot of the open-loop transfer function for the case in which the radial weighting functions were assumed to be uniform.
