DESIGN BASIS FOR PADDLE PUMPS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4077888

A design basis for paddle pumps is given. A paddle pump is a simple high-clearance centrifugal pump with a fourbladed flat paddle as an impeller and with no submerged bearings. These pumps have a high dependence of flow on imposed head so that they can be used to transfer liquid between processing units over a wide range of flows without ths need of additional adjustment or control devices. Their simplicity and rugged construction are particularly desirable features in radiochemical processing plants. (auth)
