PREPARATION OF $sup 18$F IN A NUCLEAR REACTOR

/sup 18/F was produced by irradiating LiNO/sub 3/ in the Ispra I reactor, by /sup 16/O(t,n)/sup 18/F reaction using tritons from /sup 6/Li(n,t)/ sup 4/He reaction. A simple method is proposed for the purification of /sup 18/ F, based on the adsorption on anionic alumina in OH/sup -/ form and elution with NaF solution. Also the adsorption of /sup 18/F on magnesium oxide was studied. Several other salts containing lithium and oxygen were irradiated. Some remarks on the dependence of the /sup 18/F production yields from the chemical composition of the irradiated compounds are reported. (auth)
