Rate constants for the reaction of OH radicals with CHF$sub 2$Cl, CF$sub 2$Cl$sub 2$, CFCl$sub 3$, and H$sub 2$ were determined over the temperature range 297 to 434$sup 0$K using a flash photolysis--resonance fluorescence technique. The following Arrhenius expressions were obtained: k$sub 1$(CHF$sub 2$Cl) = 1.21 x 10$sup -12$e/sup -(3250 +- 300)/RT/ cm$sup 3$ molecule$sup -1$ sec$sup -1$, k$sub 1$(CF$sub 2$Cl$sub 2$) less than 1 x 10$sup -15$ cm$sup 3$ molecule$sup -1$ sec$sup -1$ (T = 297 - 424$sup 0$K), k$sub 1$(CFCl$sub 3$) less than 1 x 10$sup - 15$ cm$sup 3$ molecule$sup -1$ sec$sup -1$ c$sup -1$ (T = 297 to 424$sup 0$K), k$sub 1$(H$sub 2$) = 5.9 x 10$sup -12$ e/sup -(3990 +- 300)/RT/ cm$sup 3$ molecule$sup -1$ sec$sup -1$. The rate constants for the reaction of OH radicals with H$sub 2$, which were used to check the experimental system, are in good agreement with literature values. The atmospheric significance of the reaction of OH radicals with CHF$sub 2$Cl is briefly discussed. (auth)
