Resonance Interactions of Fast Particles With Nuclei; REZONANSIYE VZAIMODEISTVIYA VYSTRYKH CHASTITS S YADRAMI

Some characteristic features of the resonance interaction of fast mesons with nuclei in the energy region, in which the N* and Y* isobar production is possible, are considered. It is shown that the so-called nuclear isobar is also likely to be produced. In the case of elastic scattering the width and the mass of the nuclear isobar are determined only by the width of the corresponding resonance and by the interaction of the isobar with the nucleons of the nucleus. There is no increase in the width of the isobar state of nuclei due to the nucleon motion in the nucleus. A similar conclusion holds also for inelastic two- particle reactions. The study of the position and the width of the maximum in the cross section for meson interaction with nuclei allows to obtain some information about the character of Y*N and NN* interactions. From this point of view it is especially interesting to investigate reactions of the tyne K/sup -/d yields LAMBDA n, K/sup -/ He/sup 4/ yields AH/sup 3/, and the like. (auth)
