EFFECTS OF SCREENING AND MULTIPLE SCATTERING OF THE PRIMARY ELECTRON ON THE POLARISATION OF BREMSSTRAHLUNG

Journal Article · · Proc. Natl. Inst. Sci. India. Pt.A.
OSTI ID:4070671
It is shown that the effects of screening on the Bremsstrahlung cross section can be considered without referring to any particular stomic form factor. Explicit expressions for the polarization-dependent cross sections were obtained on the assumption of exponential screening. The irtninsic energy-angle distribution of the Bremsstrahlung thus obtained was then combined with Moliere's theory of multiple scattering for the primary electrons. It was found that at least for forward emission, the energy dependence of the polarization of Bremsstrahlung is hardly affected by the considerations of multiple scattering. (auth)
