THE FRICTION AND DIFFUSION COEFFICIENTS OF THE FOKKER-PLANCK EQUATION IN A PLASMA

In a recent paper (Thompson & Hubbard 1960) it was shown how the diffusion coefficients of the Fokker-Planck equation could be calculated in the case of a plasma in thermal equilibrium by a method which included automatically correlation effects and avoided the use of a cut-off procedure. The method is extended to plasmas not in thermall equillibrium, and a calculation of the friotion coefficient is given. (auth)
