ELECTRON SPIN RESONANCE OF (CO$sub 2$H)CH$sub 2$-CH(CO$sub 2$H) IN SUCCINIC ACID

Journal Article · · Molecular Physics (England)
Electron-spin-resonance investigations on a gamma -irradiated single crystal of succinic acid corfirm and extend the findings of Heller and McConnel on the hyperfins couplings in the radical (CO/sub 2/H)CH-CH/sub 2/(CO/sub 2/H). Complete coupling tensors, and the g tensor, are given in the table. These comfirm that the radical has almost the same orientatlon as the unchanged molecules. The plans of the free-radical carbon is twisted 5 deg from the original carbon skelton plane, and this leads to appreciable nonequivalence of the hydrogen atoms of the CH/sub 2/ group. (auth)
