Estimates that 5.5-6 million lb U$sub 3$$O$$sub 8$ can be produced from the 30 percent acid stage in the wet process for the production of phosphoric acid has spurred producers of phosphoric acid to consider uranium recovery. Solvent extraction processes using capryl phosphoric acid (AEC extraction process, 1950's) or D$sub 2$T--a mixture of di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid and trioctylphosphine oxide (ORNL process, 1970) are described for uranium recovery from the 30 percent acid produced by digesting phosphate rock with sulfuric acid. Flowsheets are shown for the two processes. Some other recovery processes underway are mentioned. (BLM)
