A mixer-settler apparatus is designed with means for effectively mixing the liquid phases without the use of moving mechanlcal parts in contact with the liquids. The means comprises a pair of passageways for each mixer compartment, a plurality of jet orifices connecting each passageway with the compartment at various levels, and means for alternately decreasing and increasing the fluid pressure in the passageways so that liquid is expelled from one passageway as it is drawn into the other passageway.
