SEPARATION OF URANIUM AND ZIRCONIUM

Mixtures or alloys of zirconium--uranium are immersed into molten aluminum at 800 to 900 deg C. The zirconium bearing precipitate is then removed by decantation or centrifugation at 670 to 760 deg C. Re-cycling is advisable to obtain better elimination of zirconium. (EURATOM)
