Z-PINCH DYNAMICS FOR SINUSOIDALLY TIME-DEPENDENT DISCHARGE CURRENTS

The comparison of measured pinch times to the results obtained by solving the snow-plow equation for sinusoidally time-dependent discharge currents is discussed. A plot of pinch time against the square-root of gas density divided by discharge current is given for typical Z-pinches in argon and nitrogen. (R.E.U.)
