STABILIZED SCINTILLATION COUNTER
A scintillation counter spectrometer is described that is stabilized against temperature drifts, changes with time, and variations between photomultiplier tubes. A standard light pulse is used, whose amplitude is constant and larger than any amplitude in the spectrum being studied. These "pilot" pulses are amplified and fed into a feedback circult that controls the photomultiplier high-voltage supply. Thus the pilot pulses retain a constant height, and the gain of the system remains constant. (T.F.H.)
