ON MORAVCSIK'S PRINCIPLE OF EQUIVALENCE

It is shown that contrary to the conclusions of Moravcsik, SU/sub 3/ is consistent with his principle of equivalence, which is a particular statement of the general notion that in a theory of strong interactions it should not be possible to distinguish between elementary and composite particles, independent of the particle assignments. It is also suggested that the principle of equivalence is too restrictive an interpretation of the principle of indifference since it places special importance on certain particles. (C.E.S.)
